Moved to Erie PA just this past november and didn't really take the idea of surfing the lakes serious until I saw these websites. Now I'm stoked that my boards will still have a purpose. Is there any kind of surf shop near Erie PA? My shortboard is a thin california cracker board and my longboard is weird feeling. Also, what beaches are good surf in the PA? Hope to see ya out there. Mahalo.

Just saying Hi. I just moved to MN from Maui this month. I surfed Lake Superior at Beaver Bay. Nice but I don't float so well here. I am trying to calculate road trips to the North shore of Lake Superior this fall. Looking forward to some freah water waves. Stay stoked, Aloha hp

What's up guy's I'm so stoked to find out about Lake surf, mostly because i grew up about a mile from Cleveland's East beaches. Now thinking back and spending alot of time on those beaches as a kid,i do remember seeing big waves cracking off the Mentor Headlands Lighthouse jetty, and now sending a right hander parallel to the white sandy beach. Then i never second looked, while jumping off the Lighthouse with friends. While a novice surfer of three years,I have been fortunate and able to travel to some world class breaks. Now living in Cinn,OH and relocating to Char,SC area I still have close family in Mentor beach area, and will go visit them this Mem day weekend with an 8'0 funshape and a fullsuit. Sooo long and PRAY for surf!!!

Surfing waves is our passion. The essense of the Wyldewood Surf Club is that if one arrives on the beach with a surfboard than you are one of us. It doesn't matter how good you are but how much fun you are having in the water.
If you are a competitive surfer all these things still matter but the dynamic is healthy competition and self improvement of ones surfing competitive skills.
Both of these things continue to coexist throughout the surfing world and create a balence and a connection to surfings ancient past and what we term modern times.

Guys around here surf everything from shortboards to fish to longboards. ON a longboard you'll get a lot more surf time than on a shortboard, which needs big days before they work well. There are a couple shops in Toronto, silent sports and boardsports, and a ron jons is being built in toronto as well. Closer to home dans dive shop has good deals on rubber and you can get wax at Ski Pro in St Kitts, and Phatman is just over the border in Lockport. Also break outta the area51 fixation-we are lucky in Niagara to be surrounded by water, and any wind direction with speed over 15 knots can yield surf at any one of a hundred spots if you know where to look.
Good luck, Dan

If everyone is bitching about the ESA site being competition biased and with strict rules then why don't they start using this site as a sort of 'surf enthusiast but no contest bullshit or stupid rules' site?
